Update from the Hyper4Rail Project – Work Packages 2 and 3
In April, the Hyper4Rail project saw significant progress in both Work Packages 2 and 3.
Under Work Package 2, documentation for the first iteration was completed, covering system architecture (Task 2.3), hazard analysis (Task 2.4), and technical concept design (Task 2.5). A key achievement in Task 2.5 was the development and use of a specialized simulation tool which enabled an in-depth comparison of five technical concepts. These concepts differ in passenger capacity, lane-switching mechanisms, infrastructure diameter, propulsion system characteristics, and operating pressure levels. Meanwhile, work on the Concept of Operations (Task 2.2) moved into its second iteration, supported by a new stakeholder survey and expert workshops. A detailed timeline for this phase, running from April to July, has been established to guide upcoming activities.
In Work Package 3, efforts focused on finalizing the Hyperloop network analysis (Deliverable 3.1), which outlines proposed European Hyperloop network scenarios. Work also continued to ensure alignment with WP2’s Concept of Operations, particularly in preparation for the external validation workshop in May. This workshop will present and validate the hyperloop network concept and selected scenarios with external stakeholders.
